It is not a question of them changing direction, it is more evidence of Gotan Project's continuing journey. Having started their musical adventure with electrifying tango they recently turned up the heat by introducing Nueva Cumbia into their mix and now Gotan Project have joined forces with the wonderful voice of Tumi to bring an afro-hop folk soul sound of South Africa to their sonic melting pot on "Strength to Love".
"Checkmate" is a dark tale of tortured love that brings together tango singing with spoken word.
